Having worked together treating elite athletes
in the UK at the National Sports Centre,
Kath & Lou gained first hand experience in the benefits
of many disciplines working together to treat patients.
Upon returning to Australia they decided they wanted to bring this philosophy
to life through their own pilates studio and clinic within a gym complex.
A set up where a team of professionals work together, as one,
to get the BEST result for the client.
After more than ten years of putting this into practice, we still passionately believe
in the benefits of working as a team with many disciplines acting
to solve our clients sporting, health and injury needs.
Louise Hateley – Director / Physiotherapist
Louise has been a physiotherapist for 20 years. Throughout the early stages of her career, she used her profession to experience a wide scope of health settings ranging from working with a predominantly remote aboriginal client base in the Physiotherapy Rehabilitation Centre at the Royal Darwin Hospital, through to spending several years as a physiotherapist at the National Sports Centre in London where she worked with elite athletes including the British Diving Team and London Towers basketball teams.
Louise has always been a runner and a fitness enthusiast herself, and her passion in her career was the ability to use her skills and knowledge to help her clients reach their full potential and achieve their goals. After settling in Ascot Vale and having three children of her own, Louise’s professional focus switched to helping women maintain fitness and health throughout the journey of pregnancy and motherhood. She moved into Womens Health Physiotherapy and Pelvic Floor management with an emphasis on rehabilitating women following pregnancy and birth using pilates, exercise and pelvic floor strengthening.
She is passionate about increasing “womens health talk” and normalising these discussions about issues such as prolapse and incontinence so that women don’t have to feel that they need to hide something that affects most women and can be treated.
Lou also runs our GLA:D exercise groups, which is a program designed to help people with Osteoarthritis to reduce pain and improve functions. She is passionate about women's health at all stages and uses this to guide the team to deliver excellent service.
Kathryn Miller – Director / Podiatrist
Kath graduated with a Bachelor of Podiatry from La Trobe University in 1999 where she then worked in a teaching and research role – her work in biomechanics and diabetes has been published and presented internationally. Throughout her career, Kath has worked with a variety of community groups, both in the public health system and privately with a clinical interest in paediatrics and sports injury. She has extensive experience working with athletes both in the UK including British Athletics and London Towers basketball team and here in Australia including AFL clubs Carlton & North Melbourne.
Kath is passionate about offering everyone, of all ages, quality care. This experience is used to guide the team to offer the best service to all clients. Kath has split her time between In Stride and working in a management role in a community health centre but now is balancing her new role of being a mother of two with administration duties at In Stride.
